Digby Scallop Days Festival
August 7-8-9-10-11th 2013
Scallop Days is celebrated the second weekend in the month of August, our festival is celebrated for a period of five days starting on the Wednesday and ending on the Sunday. every year we have different themes but always the festival reflects our local scallops and the fleet's that harvest them, Digby Scallops are world known for their taste and Digby is also known as the Scallop Capital of the world
All local eateries serve Digby Scallops whether the scallop is seared, fried in a chowder you will find the most succulent tasting scallops.
On the Friday we celebrate and crown a new queen during the Queens Coronation (find out more), from Wednesday to Sunday we have many vendors on the waterfront selling their wares, the local Digby Farmer market crafts & collectibles is open Friday night to Sunday located in the Heritage Centre.
Come out and watch our local scallop fisher's and others enter the Scallop Shucking and Scallop Net Knitting competitions, try your hand in shucking a Digby Scallop.
On Saturday is our Grand Street Parade proudly sponsored by Digby Tim Horton's
On Sunday a must see is the Woodsmen Competition (located next to the Heritage Centre) and the Scallop Days Car Show (located on the main street), for the full events program (click here) and booklet programs are also available at the local establishments during Scallop Days.
